Earthspector brings the versatility of the Internet to Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This product helps users to visualize geographic data quickly and easily by wrapping a fast, flexible web interface around the stunning 3D visualization capabilities of Google Earth.

The Earthspector web interface enhances the Google Earth Plug-in by providing a set of standard map navigation tools as well as advanced geospatial querying and measuring capabilities.

Map Navigation Tools. (Public Beta) The Earthspector navigation tools allow for dynamic zoom in and out, zoom to the full extent of the world, and then flip backward and forward through the map history.

Geospatial Tools. (Coming soon!) The Earthspector interface brings geospatial processing capabilities to the Google Earth Plug-in in two ways.

  • Identify. This tool presents the user with additional information about map features.
  • Query. This tool allows the user to perform spatial queries on the map data.

Measure Tool. (Public Beta) The Earthspector measure tools can be used to measure various aspects on the map display.

  • Distances. The line measure tool will show the distances of a single or multiple line segment in kilometers, meters, decimeters, centimeters, millimeters, miles, nautical miles, yards, feet, inches, decimal degrees, and degrees/minutes/seconds.
  • Area and Perimeter. The area measure tool will show the area and perimeter of any polygon shape drawn on the map in kilometers, hectares, meters, ares, miles, acres, feet and yards (area is in "square" measurements).
  • Point. The point measure tool will show the X/Y location of the point drawn on the map in either decimal degrees or degrees/minutes/seconds.
